The story so far

from Wikipedia & the U.S. Census

Pine Grove is a town in Wetzel County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 363 at the 2020 census. The community was named for a grove of pine trees near the original town site. The town is one mile north of Dominion Energy's large Hastings Extraction Station, which separates natural gas into various subproducts such as butane. The Hastings plant is unique in that there are traffic signals approximately 0.75 mile away from the plant in either direction to stop traffic in case of an emergency. Pine Grove is also home to Valley High School.

Between the 2010 and 2020 censuses its population fell from 552 to 363 (-34%). Half of its homes were built before 1950.

2Try a local or state list firstMany states keep their own register with a shorter form, a common first step for old barns, halls and schoolhouses.
3Write it upA nomination covers the history, photos and a map. North Street Historic District’s page links to a real one.
