As of the 2020 census, its population was 854 and it contained 402 housing units. Artesia Township formed from portions of Ash Grove and Loda townships sometime prior to 1921.
Between the 2010 and 2020 censuses its population fell from 945 to 854 (-10%). Half of its homes were built before 1942.
