Kane is a borough in McKean County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, 87 miles (140 km) east-southeast of Erie. It was founded in 1864 by Civil War General Thomas L. Kane of the famous Bucktail Regiment. In the early part of the 20th century, Kane was an industrial hub. The population peaked in the 1920s, but has since declined to 3,630 people as of the 2020 census.
