The population was 703 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Kiryas Joel–Poughkeepsie–Newburgh metropolitan area as well as the larger New York metropolitan area. Staatsburg is located in the northwestern corner of Hyde Park and is bordered to the west by the Hudson River.
