East Moriches ( moh-RITCH-iz) is a hamlet and census-designated place in the Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, New York, United States near the south coast of Long Island. As of the 2020 census, East Moriches had a population of 5,946. The name Moriches comes from Meritces, a Native American who owned land on The Moriches Neck.
