from WikipediaRead it all ↗Nickerson was platted in 1871 by Lucius D. Richards when the Fremont, Elkhorn & Missouri Valley Railroad was extended to that point. It was named for its founder, Reynolds K. Nickerson. Nickerson was incorporated as a village in 1910.
In 1906, a second railroad began to serve the village. The Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad tracks were constructed. Those tracks are now a part of the BNSF Railway network.
