It is one of the eight communities included in the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians Reservation and the population is 76% Choctaw. The community takes its name from Conehatta Creek.
Between the 2010 and 2020 censuses its population grew from 1,342 to 1,376 (+3%). Half of its homes were built before 1991.
