Dollymount Township was organized in 1881, and named after Dollymount, Ireland, although the name also alludes to Anthony Doll, an early settler in the area.
Between the 2010 and 2020 censuses its population grew from 77 to 80 (+4%). Half of its homes were built before 1955.
