Dewey is in the 7th congressional district of Minnesota and is represented by Democrat Collin Peterson. Dewey Township was named for George Dewey (1837–1917), an American admiral.
Between the 2010 and 2020 censuses its population fell from 122 to 98 (-20%). Half of its homes were built before 1988.
