The story
from WikipediaRead it all ↗Kelly got its start in the early 1880's following construction of the Kansas City, Wyandotte and Northwestern Railroad through the area. The railroad, continuously troubled financially, was reorganized around 1915 as the Kansas City, Wichita and Northwestern Railway. Continued financial trouble led to the line being sold to Missouri Pacific, which promptly shut the line down. Rail service was stopped in 1919, and the line was dismantled in the early 1920's.
A post office was opened in Kelly in 1888, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1988.
