Topeka is located approximately eleven miles south of Shipshewana, Indiana. Topeka was likely so named because the landscape reminded settlers of Topeka, Kansas.
Between the 2010 and 2020 censuses its population grew from 1,153 to 1,206 (+5%). Half of its homes were built before 1975.
