Lynn changed its name originally from Linn Grove Township to Lynnville Township on April 13, 1857, and then again from Lynnville to Lynn on an unknown date.
Between the 2010 and 2020 censuses its population grew from 745 to 763 (+2%). Half of its homes were built before 1960.
