It is one of the five Quad Cities at the confluence of the Rock and Mississippi rivers, along with neighboring Moline and Rock Island in Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa.
East Moline was established in 1903. Its population held steady between the last two censuses: 21,302 people in 2010, 21,374 in 2020. Half of its homes were built before 1968.
