The story

from WikipediaRead it all ↗

Bradley Township lies in the extreme north-western part of Jackson County and was named in honor of Judge William Bradley who had migrated to the county with his father Joshua Bradley from Tennessee. The township contained a few settlers before the organization of the State in 1818. It contains two towns, Campbell Hill on the railroad named above, 4 miles (6.4 km) from its rival, Ava.

Nothing in Bradley is on the National Register yet

That’s true of most small towns. It doesn’t mean Bradley has no history, only that no one has written up a nomination. The closest listed place is Shiloh College in Bradley, 3.1 miles away.

How a place gets listed

1Talk to the stateEvery nomination goes through the State Historic Preservation Office. Owners, towns and historical societies can start one.
2Try a local or state list firstMany states keep their own register with a shorter form, a common first step for old barns, halls and schoolhouses.
3Write it upA nomination covers the history, photos and a map. Shiloh College’s page links to a real one.
