from WikipediaRead it all ↗Canon was originally called "West Bowersville", and under the latter name was laid out in 1875. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated the place as the "Town of Canon" in 1902, with the town corporate limits extending in a one-mile radius from the intersection of Broad and Depot streets.
