It is 11 miles (18 km) west of Ocala, the county seat. Ocala Estates was first listed as a CDP for the 2020 census, at which time it had a population of 2,991. It is part of the Ocala, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Half of its homes were built before 1978.
