Monroe is a town located in eastern Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 18,825 at the 2020 census. Monroe is part of the Greater Bridgeport Planning Region. The town is largely considered a bedroom community of New York City, New Haven, Stamford and Bridgeport. Monroe contains the villages of Stepney, Stevenson and Monroe Center.
