Long Beach is an oceanfront city in Nassau County, New York, on Long Island. The city rests on a central section of the Long Beach Barrier Island, which is the westernmost of the outer barrier islands off the South Shore of Long Island. The city's population was 35,029 at the 2020 United States census. The City of Long Beach was incorporated in 1922, and is nicknamed "The City by the Sea" (the Latin form, Civitas ad mare, is the city's motto).
